The course follows a robust syllabus with specific objectives.

In Crochet Class students learn about different yarn types, hook sizes, and the basic techniques of crochet. Demonstrations include how to hold the hook and yarn, create a slip knot, create a chain stitch, and join a swatch. Students also learn how to read and explore basic crochet patterns so that they may develop designs that are meaningful to them. Crochet aids in the development of fine motor skills. It provides students with a tangible moment in an increasingly digital world through patience and practice. Crochet is a creative outlet that helps students express themselves in ways that are meaningful to them while learning responsibility, focus, and persistence. Learning crochet is calming to children and aids in the development of self-regulation, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
